Ryan Damon, 49, Died in Framingham Hit-and-Run Car Accident With a Carby's Lumber Flatbed Truck While Riding Bicycle Near Route 126 and Gorman Road: GoFundMe Created to Help Victim’s Family

FRAMINGHAM, MASSACHUSETTS (November 25, 2025) – A 43-year-old man identified as Ryan Damon has tragically died in a Framingham hit-and-run lumber truck accident at Concord Street and Gorman Road.

Nassau County officials are saying that the accident took place around 9:52 AM on Wednesday. Ryan Damon was operating a tricycle when he was struck by a Carby’s Lumber flatbed truck.

The truck was making a left turn when it struck the victim. Unfortunately, the driver of the lumber truck did not remain at the scene.

Paramedics were called to the accident site to help the victim. Ryan Damon was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Despite lifesaving measures by medical staff and doctors, he later died at the hospital. The driver of the lumber truck has since been arrested and charged for the fatal collision.

Neighbors have long said that Concord Street is dangerous. Many drivers either speed or make risky driving maneuvers. According to the MassDOT’s IMPACT crash database, there have been a total of 29 other crashes at this particular intersection in the last 5 years.

You can support the family of the victim through GoFundMe. According to the online fundraiser, “On Wednesday, November 19, 2025, Ryan Damon was riding his bicycle when he lost his life from a hit-and-run crash. Ryan’s family is left not only with the grief of losing a brother and a son so suddenly and tragically but also the financial burden of funeral expenses. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go toward helping the Damon family cover those costs.”

Liability for Framingham Truck Accidents

Truck drivers are required to obtain a commercial driver’s license. They are expected to undergo specialized training and exercise a great deal of caution to avoid collisions. Truck drivers must be particularly cautious when making left turns. Pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 89, Section 8, the driver of any vehicle intending to make a left turn shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicle approaching from the opposite direction that is close enough to pose a hazard. They must continue yielding until they are able to complete the left turn with reasonable safety. There are many different factors that could contribute to a truck accident.

  • Blind Spots: A truck driver may have failed to check their blind spots for bicyclists and other traffic before making a left turn in the roadway.
  • Speeding: Truck drivers are substantially more likely to hit pedestrians and cyclists if they are traveling at unsafe speeds.
  • Weather Conditions: Inclement weather can obscure the presence of pedestrians and also make it more difficult for vehicles to come to a safe stop.
  • Fatigue: Many truck drivers are pressured to work long hours. They may naturally become fatigued, which can dramatically impact their ability to operate a vehicle safely.

If a truck driver fails to slow down to avoid colliding with a bicyclist or pedestrian, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. Negligence is the failure to operate with the care necessary to avoid causing harm. Any driver that flees the scene of an injury collision could also face criminal penalties in addition to civil liability. Depending on the facts of any case, there could be numerous sources of liability for any collision beyond a driver deemed to be at fault.

Third-Party Liability for Framingham Truck Accidents

Many people are seriously injured or killed in car accidents with commercial trucks each year. According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, “Of the approximately 503,000 police-reported crashes involving large trucks in 2022, there were 5,279 (1 percent) fatal crashes and 114,000 (23 percent) injury crashes.” These accidents can be highly complex and could legally implicate multiple parties.

  • Truck Company: The company that owned or operated a truck could be liable for an accident if one of their drivers was negligent and hit a pedestrian. Generally speaking, employers in Massachusetts can be held vicariously liable for the wrongful actions of their workers who were operating within the scope of their job duties.
  • Logistics Company: The company responsible for conducting due diligence on truck drivers in hiring them could be liable if they were negligent in their duties. For example, they may have selected a truck driver with a history of collisions or who did not have the appropriate commercial license.
  • Municipal Entity: A public entity like a county or city in Massachusetts could be liable for a car accident if it was caused by a dangerous condition with a roadway. Plaintiffs will need to show the public entities’ negligence is the proximate cause of their injury. The public entity must have also had notice of the dangerous condition.

Truck accidents are often highly preventable. This is particularly true when truck drivers are making left turns. This is why so many companies work to eliminate as many left turns as possible for the routes that their drivers take. Unfortunately, truck companies will virtually never accept responsibility if one of their drivers hits a pedestrian. Regardless, accident victims are protected by a number of rights. These rights extend to the surviving family members of any person hit by a truck. They are able to seek some measure of accountability and justice through a wrongful death claim.
