Interstate 495 Temporarily Shut Down After Major Andover Truck Accident That Scattered Debris Across the Roadway

ANDOVER, MASSACHUSETTS (August 6, 2025) – At least one person was injured in an Andover semi-truck accident on Interstate 495 near mile marker 97.2. It remains unclear if any other vehicles besides the truck were involved in the crash.

Essex County officials are saying that the accident took place around 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday. A tractor-trailer truck overturned in the middle of the interstate for undetermined reasons. Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene to help all of the victims.

A full investigation into the Andover truck accident remains ongoing.

Workers’ Compensation After Andover Truck Accidents

When a truck driver is injured in Massachusetts, they will typically have recourse through the workers’ compensation system. This is a no-fault insurance system that allows injured workers to recover damages after an accident. Workers’ compensation allows injured workers to recover numerous types of damages.

  • Medical Expenses: Workers are able to recover all medical expenses reasonable and necessary for their treatment, including doctor visits, surgery, and physical therapy.
  • Temporary Disability Benefits: Workers are able to recover compensation when they are unable to work as a result of an injury.
  • Vocational Rehabilitation: Workers are able to receive vocational benefits when they are not able to return to their previous jobs. This will normally include job placement assistance and career counseling.

In addition to workers’ compensation, injured workers may also be able to recover damages through a third-party liability claim. If an entity separate from a worker’s employer was responsible for a collision, this could form the basis of a third-party liability claim. You may want to contact a workers’ compensation attorney to ensure your claim is properly filed.

Third Parties That Could Be Liable for a Truck Accident

There could be numerous sources of third-party liability for any truck accident. This will depend in large part on exactly what went wrong in any accident. What follows are just a few of the entities that could bear liability for any truck accident.

  • Vehicle/Parts Manufacturer: The companies that make trucks and their component parts could be liable for a collision if it was caused by a mechanical failure.
  • Third-Party Loading Contractor: There are specific regulations with respect to how a truck can be loaded. Overloading or improper loading could easily cause a truck to become unstable and roll over on a highway.
  • Other Drivers: Other drivers involved in a truck accident may also bear some responsibility for what happened, particularly if they made an unsafe lane change or violated some other traffic regulation.

It can be difficult to know where to begin after any truck accident. Accident victims should seek the guidance of an experienced Andover truck accident attorney. An attorney can help identify all potentially liable parties so that you can get the most compensation after any collision.
