Marc Glaser, Landscape Worker, Died After Truck Came Into Contact With Power Line in Salem at Parking Lot on North Broadway
SALEM, NEW HAMPSHIRE (November 9, 2025) – A worker identified as Marc Glaser has tragically died in a Salem electrocution accident in front of the service credit union on Route 28.
Salem officials are saying the accident took place around 1:21 PM at a parking lot. Two workers in a bucket truck were performing landscaping duties when their truck came into contact with overhead electrical lines.
Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene of the accident to help the victims. Tragically, Marc Glaser was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other worker was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston in critical condition. Both Marc Glaser and the other victim were part of a landscaping company and were trimming trees in the area.
A full investigation into the accident by OSHA remains ongoing.
Liability for Salem Electrocution Accidents
Companies have a legal obligation to protect workers from electrocutions and other foreseeable hazards. Despite this, employees are barred from bringing injury claims against their employer in most situations. There are, however, exceptions when employers cause injuries through willful acts. Most claims in the workplace are adjudicated through the workers’ compensation system. This is a no-fault insurance scheme designed to help injured workers. Workers may be able to pursue claims against third-parties responsible for an accident. There could be several sources of third-party liability for any electrocution accident.
- Utility Company: The company responsible for creating a power line could be liable for an electrocution if the lines were inadequately marked or insulated.
- Property Owner: A general contractor or property owner could be liable for an accident if they failed to maintain a work site in a reasonably safe condition.
- Equipment Manufacturer: The company that manufactured a landscaping truck could be liable for an accident if it lacked certain safety features.
Accidents where trucks with boom lifts contact overhead power lines are highly preventable. Among other things, these trucks should have safety devices that either warn or prevent them from coming into contact with energized lines. Several different companies offer devices that can perform this task. It is foreseeable that boom lifts might come into contact with power lines. When a company fails to warn about related risks or to protect against them with safety features, such as warning systems and insulation, this could create the basis of a product liability claim.
Preventing Salem Tree Trimming Accidents
Tree trimming has one of the highest fatality rates. According to on publication by the Tree Care Industry Association, “there were 243 tree care-related fatal occupational injuries in the U.S. for calendar years 2020 through 2023, yielding an average of 61 such incidents a year.” Certain steps should be taken to prevent tree-trimming accidents.
- Proper Training: All workers should be trained in safety measures. They should also be able to recognize clear hazards.
- Hazard Assessment: Companies should conduct a pre-work site assessment to determine what hazards they may encounter.
- Electrical Safety: Companies should use tools that are insulated and coordinate with utility companies to de-energize power lines when this is practical.
It could be hard to know where to begin after any electrocution accident at a worksite. These accidents routinely lead to fatalities. Survivors may be left with life-altering injuries that prevent them from going back to work. Victims of workplace accidents should carefully consider all of their legal options. Among other things, the family members of any person who dies in the workplace may be able to seek some measure of justice through a civil action.
