Since I was a little girl, I knew the legal field was where I wanted to be. I first started with watching a lot of criminal shows, like almost every person going into law or any legal field. I loved SVU. I loved Law and Order. I loved Criminal Minds, especially Criminal Minds.

Coming from a Hispanic background, coming from immigrant parents, I was always given the big responsibility of assisting them with everything legal with their immigration process, that was usually me.

Once I got older and saw myself more in the community, saw myself more understanding of what was happening in my community, the more I felt like I had a duty to respond to the needs of my community.

There was a lack of legal education where I came from in the Bronx. A lot of people didn’t understand their rights, including myself.

I was involved in a hit and run and I absolutely did not know my rights. I did not know what to do. I called my father hysterically crying, “what do I do?”

I didn’t go after the person who hit me because I didn’t know my rights, what I should do. And I felt like if I either had someone that I can look up to, like myself in the legal field, or someone explaining it to me better, I feel like I would have been able to get more compensation for everything I went through.

Coming from a personal injury background, which I had before coming into DiBella Law, I can firsthand say that our communication is outstanding.

We contact our clients more often than not. There’s a policy that we have that is 24 hours. Within 24 hours, If we didn’t get you the first time, we will follow up with you. And I feel like that’s the biggest thing in law is the communication aspect between either the attorney and the client or just staff and the client.

My approach is a lot like the DiBella Law motto, which is we treat our clients as family. I feel like that’s the best approach to law in itself because a lot of these people are coming to us in the worst times and understanding that they might not understand the legal field, they may not understand their rights.

So, treating them like family, explaining to them the process, even if you have to repeat it a thousand times, I feel like it’s important that we treat our clients as family.

And that’s my approach, anywhere I go to treat everyone like they’re my mom, my dad, my sister, someone that I care about and want the best for them.
