Male Worker Seriously Injured After Bucket Truck Tipped Over Into Busy Traffic on Memorial Drive in Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS (March 19, 2028) – A worker was hospitalized after being injured in a Cambridge bucket truck accident on Memorial Drive by John F. Kennedy Street.

Cambridge police officials say the accident occurred on Wednesday morning. A bucket truck with a man inside was reportedly knocked over into oncoming traffic.

Troopers and paramedics were called to the accident scene to assist the victim. The injured worker was eventually extricated from the bucket truck before being taken to the hospital.

A sign on the side of the bucket truck revealed that it may have belonged to Northern Tree Service LLC. However, a full investigation into the Cambridge bucket truck accident remains ongoing at this time.

Liability for Cambridge Bucket Truck Accidents

Drivers in Massachusetts have a legal obligation to use caution to avoid colliding with trucks and other vehicles. This requires that they maintain a safe following distance. According to 720 CMR, § 9.06, “The driver of a vehicle shall not follow another vehicle more closely than is reasonable and prudent, having due regard to the speed of such vehicle and the traffic upon and condition of the highway.” Several other factors could contribute to any truck accident.

  • Speed: A driver may have been traveling at a speed that would be unsafe given the prevailing road conditions.
  • Driver Distraction: Even a very brief distraction could potentially contribute to an accident, particularly along a busy stretch of roadway.
  • Inclement Weather: Rain and snow can cause a roadway to become slick and dramatically increase a vehicle’s stopping distance.

If a worker is injured in Massachusetts, they will typically have recourse through the workers’ compensation system. This is a no-fault insurance scheme that can help injured workers get the support that they need after being injured on the job. An injured worker may also be able to pursue damages through a third-party liability claim.

A third-party liability claim may be possible if an entity separate from a worker contributed to a crash. This could include other drivers involved in a collision. It may also include a general contractor that failed to protect workers from oncoming traffic.

Steps to Take After Cambridge Bucket Truck Accidents

Several actions should be taken after any worker is injured in Massachusetts.

  • Treatment: Victims should seek medical treatment as early as possible. Even seemingly minor injuries may turn out to be more serious.
  • OSHA: The injury should be reported to OSHA and the worker’s employer as soon as possible. This will help create an official record of what happened.
  • Police Report: The police report created after the accident should be sought. It can help reveal how an accident took place and who may be liable.
  • Legal Review: Injured workers should contact an experienced Boston personal injury attorney. An attorney can take steps to preserve evidence and ensure that victims are fairly compensated for all of their injuries.

It could be difficult to know what to do after being injured in any workplace accident. Injured workers may need to take extensive periods of time away from their profession. They could also be left with high medical bills. Unfortunately, negligent drivers and their insurance providers will almost never accept responsibility if they’re involved in a collision. This is why it’s so important that any workplace accident be thoroughly investigated by an outside party.
