Meet Paralegal Stacy Ross

My name is Stacy Ross. I’ve been hired as a litigation paralegal. I have been a paralegal for over 20 years. My job description here will be working with the personal injury and workers’ comp cases. I will help clients when they come in. I’ll help with the intake process. I’ll help walk them through. Quite often, we have clients who have never dealt with a car accident or a workers’ comp type case. So my role with the clients is to help them as much as possible, so they can focus on getting better and I can focus on the law. We always hope to settle cases before we get into a court-type situation. If that doesn’t happen to be the case, when we go to court, my role is to help drafting pleadings, the complaint, interrogatories, assisting the clients with answering interrogatories, helping them walk through the deposition process, getting them ready for that. If it does go into an actual trial, I can help prepare trial notebooks, set up the picture boards for the jury to see, and, you know, we always hope that the jury will see our way. And, you know, we always do the best we can and we look forward to getting a positive verdict.

How did you get into law?
I got into the field of law actually kind of by mistake. I was pregnant with my second child. I was a waitress, and being on my feet was very difficult. I was hired at a law firm through a placement agency, and they apparently saw a diamond in the rough. They trained me up. I ended up getting my paralegal associate’s while I was working for them to augment the paralegal and the computer science degree that I have. So it was a blessing. You know, it just kind of happened and I was very lucky to get into the field of law, and I’ve enjoyed it for the last 20 years.
