WARREN, MASSACHUSETTS (December 9, 2025) – A motorcyclist identified as Kevin Allard has tragically died in a Warren semi-truck accident on the Massachusetts Turnpike, not far from mile marker 70.6.

Worcester County officials are saying that the accident took place around 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Kevin Allard was heading down the highway when he was involved in a collision with a tractor-trailer truck for undetermined reasons.

First responders were called to the scene of the collision to help the victim. Authorities also closed the road for several hours as they investigated.

Sadly, Kevin Allard died due to his injuries. A full investigation into the circumstances leading up to the collision remains ongoing.

Preventing Warren Semi-Truck Accidents

Operating a commercial truck is substantially more difficult than driving a passenger vehicle. Truck drivers must use a great deal of care to avoid hitting cars and motorcycles. Many truck accidents involve truck drivers who make unsafe lane changes. Pursuant to M.G.L. c. 89 § 4A;

“When any way has been divided into lanes, the driver of a vehicle shall so drive that the vehicle shall be entirely within a single lane, and he shall not move from the lane in which he is driving until he has first ascertained if such movement can be made with safety.”

Truck companies should take several measures to prevent collisions.

  • Rigorous Hiring: Truck companies should perform thorough background checks on all of their drivers. They should also ensure that their drivers go through skill-based road testing.
  • Training: All truck drivers should receive comprehensive training through structured onboarding programs. Truck drivers should be able to recognize hazards and operate their vehicle safely in adverse weather situations.
  • Fatigue Management: Every truck driver must comply with all hours-of-service requirements. They must take periodic breaks to prevent becoming dangerously fatigued.
  • Technology: Truck companies should also consider using technological features to help avoid collisions. This can include electronic stability control and automatic emergency braking.

Who Can Be Held Responsible for Tractor-Trailer Accidents?

Truck accidents are preventable. In many situations, they involve drivers who are not adequately checking their blind spots. Trucks have large blind spots all around the vehicle.

Several parties may be at fault or held responsible for a commercial trucking accident.

  • If the driver fails to slow down to avoid hitting a vehicle or turns into their path, this can be construed as negligence. The truck driver involved in the collision could be legally responsible.
  • Their employer could also potentially be responsible if they were operating within the course and scope of their job duties at the time of the crash.
  • Other third parties could be involved if improper loading, defective auto parts, or negligent maintenance were the cause of the accident

Important Evidence to Gather After Warren Semi-Truck Accidents

Truck accidents tend to be highly complex by their nature. According to the FMCSA,

“Elements that influence the occurrence of a crash may take place hours, days, or months before the crash. They include driver training and experience, vehicle design and manufacture, highway condition and traffic signaling, and weather conditions.”

It is essential that all evidence associated with any truck accident be properly collected and preserved.

  • Police Reports: The police report associated with the accident should be collected and reviewed. A police report contains many useful pieces of information, including an officer’s first impression of the crash and who they believed could be at fault.
  • Eyewitness Statements: Any statements from eyewitnesses can also be quite helpful. They can help reveal the circumstances leading up to a crash.
  • Surveillance Footage: Traffic intersections are often covered by surveillance cameras. Local businesses could also potentially have footage of the collision.
  • Event Data Recorder: Commercial trucks tend to have an event data recorder. These devices function in much the same way the black box on an airplane does. They contain information that can be crucial to establishing whether or not a truck driver acted negligently.

One common thread in all truck accidents is that truck companies often do everything in their power to avoid legal responsibility. They may try to claim that the victim was actually somehow responsible. This is why evidence is so important. The physical evidence left at the scene of any collision could help demonstrate what happened, regardless of what any person or corporation may say.
