DiBella Law Food Donations

Boston, MA (November 22, 2025) – Recently, the team at DiBella Law stepped into a mission that hits close to home, supporting Boston University students facing food insecurity through the “Check Hunger” food drive initiative.

As a proud Boston University alum and with two children currently attending the university, Attorney Chris DiBella led the effort personally. Hearing that some students at Boston University were struggling with basic needs, such as having enough to eat, “hit different” for him. Chris reflected on his time as a student, remembering that money was always tight, stress was always high, and students were trying to juggle everything all at once.

The goal was clear: if DiBella Law could take a little weight off the shoulders of students at BU and give them one less thing to stress about this holiday season, then that is exactly what the firm wanted to do. Supporting Check Hunger was a “no-brainer,” and everyone in the offices for DiBella Law made a donation. For Chris DiBella, this community support is just one small way he can give back to the university that has given him a lot.

The day started early when Chris shopped for essential pantry items himself. These purchases included canned goods, pasta, cereal, and snacks. Essential items at the pantry that are often requested include one-pound bags of rice, canned vegetables, canned fruit, pasta or boxed mac and cheese, peanut butter, jelly, granola bars, cereal, canned tuna or chicken, and canned soup.

The BU Food Pantry is available to support all students on campus who may be facing episodic food insecurity. Food insecurity is more than just an economic issue; it is also a physical and emotional well-being issue that can affect how someone feels, thinks, and shows up in daily life.

Once our firm’s donations were loaded, the team headed to Agganis Arena for the BU Men’s Hockey home game.

Before the puck dropped, we partnered with BU Athletics and Agganis staff to help collect food donations from fans arriving at the arena. We also helped collect donations from the Terrier Faithful before the game. Terrier fans showed up strong, dropping in bags and boxes of everything they could spare.

We Understand Community Matters

It is estimated that 30–50% of college students experience food insecurity. Last year at BU, over 18,000 pounds of food were distributed to address this critical need. At its heart, this event wasn’t about hockey. It was about community and making sure no student has to face hunger while trying to build their future. It was about showing up, for the university that means so much to our firm and our families. We’re proud to support Boston University, proud of the Terrier community’s generosity, and proud to continue giving back to the place we call home.

The BU Food Pantry, which is part of Boston University Student Wellbeing, also educates students about how they can make nutritious and budget-friendly choices.
