Brian Logan, 67, Seriously Injured in Alton Car Accident With Pickup Truck Along Mount Major Highway

ALTON, NEW HAMPSHIRE (June 26, 2026) – A 67-year-old motorcyclist identified as Brian Logan was injured in an Alton car accident on Mount Major Highway.

Alton police officials are saying that the incident occurred around 11:05 a.m. on June 16. A 2021 Subaru Crosstrek was stopped in the westbound lane and waiting to turn into the Mount Major Trailhead parking lot.

A GMC pickup truck failed to slow down and rear-ended the Subaru. The force of the impact pushed it into the eastbound lanes of the roadway, which caused it to collide with a motorcycle operated by Brian Logan.

Paramedics were called to the scene of the collision to help the victim. Brian Logan was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A full investigation into the collision remains ongoing.

Liability for Alton Motorcycle Accidents

Every person operating a car in New Hampshire must exercise due care and observe all traffic laws to avoid collisions. This necessitates that drivers maintain a safe distance from the vehicles ahead of them. According to NH Rev Stat § 265:25, “The driver of a vehicle shall not follow another vehicle more closely than is reasonable and prudent, having due regard for the speed of such vehicles and the traffic upon and the condition of the way.” Multiple factors may contribute to any car accident.

  • Poor weather conditions are a major contributing factor for car accidents.
  • A disproportionate number of collisions take place in the early morning and late evening when visibility is reduced.
  • Driver distraction is another major problem. Even taking your eyes off the road for a few seconds can result in a catastrophe.

If a driver does not slow down to avoid hitting another vehicle, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. There is a presumption of negligence on the part of any driver that rear-ends a vehicle in their own lane of traffic. Liability for a traffic accident could extend to several different parties. For example, a business entity could bear some responsibility if one of their vehicles was involved in a crash. Pickup trucks and vans are often used for commercial purposes across New Hampshire.

How an Attorney Can Help After a Motorcycle Accident

Motorcyclists lack the protection of enclosed vehicles and are uniquely vulnerable to the hazard posed by car accidents. According to the National Safety Council, “Although motorcycles make up only 3% of all registered vehicles and 0.6% of all vehicle miles traveled in the United States, motorcyclists accounted for 16.2% of all traffic fatalities and 3.6% of all injuries in 2024.” There are several ways that an attorney can help after any motorcycle accident.

  • An attorney can take steps to preserve key pieces of evidence. This includes the police report after the crash and all vehicles involved.
  • An attorney can help identify all liable parties to ensure victims receive maximum compensation for their injuries.
  • An attorney can handle all negotiations with insurance providers so that victims are able to focus on healing.

Depending on the facts of any case, there could be several liable parties for any motorcycle collision. It is important that accident victims carefully consider their legal options. It is common for insurance providers to try to trick victims by offering quick settlements. But most of the time these low-ball offers do not fully take into consideration all of the ways that a person has been harmed.
