GoFundMe Created to Help Frank Tryon Recover From Major Car Accident in Downtown Concord
CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE (October 8, 2026) – An 80-year-old man identified as Frank Tryon was seriously injured in a downtown Concord car accident on North Main Street.
Concord police officials are saying that the accident occurred on September 25. Frank Tryon was walking home when he was struck by an SUV while crossing the street.
First responders were called to the scene of the accident to help the injured victim. He was transported to the hospital to receive treatment for various injuries.
You can help support the victim as he continues to recover through GoFundMe.
According to the online fundraiser, “The evening of Friday, 9/25, Frank was walking home on his usual route and was struck by a vehicle crossing South Main at Thorndike St. He has injuries that will require time in rehab. He is 82 years old, he pays rent and works year-round, and his injuries will most certainly prevent him from being able to earn an income at least for the foreseeable future. Any amount raised is going directly to him to help maintain his independence, and this fundraiser was set up after consulting with family.”
Liability for Concord Pedestrian Accidents
New Hampshire requires drivers to take certain precautions to avoid striking any pedestrian that they encounter. Pursuant to RSA 265:37, “every driver of a vehicle shall exercise due care to avoid colliding with any pedestrian or any person propelling a human-powered vehicle and shall give an audible signal when necessary and shall exercise proper precaution upon observing any child or any obviously confused, incapacitated or intoxicated person.” Drivers must take a number of actions to avoid hitting any pedestrian.
- Speed: They must operate their vehicle at a speed that would be safe given the prevailing road conditions that they encounter.
- Blind Spots: Drivers should check their blind spots before initiating any turn at an intersection.
- Fatigue: Drivers should avoid heading out onto the road when they are excessively fatigued.
- Alcohol: Drivers should also abstain from drinking alcohol or taking any substance that could impair their judgment.
When a driver fails to slow down to avoid colliding with any pedestrian, this could serve as evidence of negligence. Even if a pedestrian is outside of a marked crosswalk, this does not absolve any driver of their duty of care to use caution to avoid a crash. There is a presumption of negligence on the part of any driver that goes past a yield sign without stopping and hits a pedestrian. There may also be several liable parties for any pedestrian collision, especially if the vehicle involved was being used for some type of commercial purpose.
Steps to Take After a Concord Pedestrian Collision
Thousands of pedestrians are seriously injured or killed every year in preventable car accidents across the United States. Elderly pedestrians and those with limited mobility are particularly at risk. According to one study by the IIHS, “The age groups with the highest percentage of pedestrian traffic fatalities were the 55-to-59 and 65-to-69 age groups at 23 percent each.” Victims should take a number of actions to protect their health and legal rights after any pedestrian collision.
- Victims should seek medical treatment as early as possible and continue with follow-up care.
- The police report created after the accident should be sought and examined for any potential mistakes.
- Lots of photos of the accident site should be taken and surveillance footage that may have captured the event should be sought as well.
- Any person injured due to the negligent actions of a driver should consider their legal options with a team experienced in pedestrian accident claims.
Car accidents are often one of the most difficult experiences that people will ever go through in their lives. They may be left with life-altering injuries that impair their ability to work or even perform daily tasks. They may also be left with high medical bills and need to spend substantial time in rehabilitation to recover. It is important for victims to understand that they do have legal rights. They may be able to pursue some measure of accountability and justice through a bodily injury claim. Damages in a civil action can help cover lost wages, medical bills, and pain and suffering.
