If you’re feeling better after your accident, and you’ve been treating for a while, and you think you’re going to be okay, call us first. Because stopping medical treatment can mean a number of different things when it comes to your personal injury claim.
First and foremost, if you want to stop treatment, I’d like to be able to talk with you. There are reasons: Because finances? Is there something we can do to help as far as making sure that your bills get paid by your health insurance? That’s one of the most common reasons actually why people want to stop.
The other reason is time. Time out of work, time from your daily lives. Your medical bill total can affect how we value a claim. But, if you feel like you’re doing better and you don’t want to treat anymore, discuss that with your medical professional first. If you’re not that badly injured, then you’re not going to get the treatment. So if you don’t treat, then you’re not badly injured, therefore you don’t need a settlement.
It’s important to get the treatment: One, to keep you healthy, two, to support your claim, three, because the insurance adjusters do look at that, how much treatment you have, how quickly you stop. It’s important to make sure that you coordinate with everybody but, insurance adjusters will hold it against you, unfortunately.
