It can take 7 to 10 business days to get the check from the insurance company. We will call you as soon as the funds have cleared and we are able to release the check.

For security reasons, we prefer our clients to come in and pick up the check. That way we know it gets to the right person. However, if distance is a problem, we can make arrangements for mailing. We just would need to discuss that with you first.

So when you get your check, we ask you to sign a copy of the check so that we have proof that you have picked it up. We also ask for your driver’s license so that we can confirm that you are indeed the person we’re supposed to be releasing the funds to.

So, when we settle a case, we provide something called a settlement statement. This is a line by line item of what the settlement was, what our fees were, what any potential liens were, and what your net recovery is. Your settlement is not taxable.
