Concussions are absolutely a form of traumatic brain injury. They’re on the milder end of the spectrum, but they’re still brain injuries. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Even a single concussion can cause long-lasting problems: post-concussion syndrome, cognitive difficulties, emotional changes, and chronic headaches. Multiple concussions are especially serious. These cases are definitely worth pursuing, particularly if the symptoms persist beyond a few weeks or if there’s any documented cognitive or functional changes. The key is thorough documentation and not accepting the “just a concussion” narrative.
