Traumatic brain injuries typically take longer than other injury cases to resolve. They can be anywhere from 18 months to 3 years. That’s because we often need to wait to understand the full extent of your injuries. Mild TBI with good recovery might settle in 12 to 18 months, while more moderate to severe TBI can take longer because we need to see your maximum medical improvement, understand the long-term prognosis and calculate future needs.
If we go to trial, that’s going to add another 18 to 24 months minimum. Cases that settle can move faster, but we never rush a traumatic brain injury settlement. Rushing means that we’re leaving money on the table. The severity determines everything. More treatment time means longer case duration, but also typically means higher compensation for you.
